Pamir Energy intends to commission Tajikistan's first wind power plant in Sept

DUSHANBE. June 11 (Interfax) - The first wind power plant with a capacity of 200 kW will be put into operation in the village of Tokhtamysh in the Murghab district of Tajikistan's Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region by the 35th anniversary of the country's independence on September 9, the Tajik Energy and Water Resources Ministry said.

The project is being implemented by OJSC Pamir Energy as part of the Rural Electrification program carried out with the support of the Tajik government and the World Bank, the ministry said.

A total of 22 solar power plants with a capacity of 13 MW have already been built in remote settlements of the Murghab district, it said. Ahead of the celebration of State Independence Day, the company plans to commission another seven solar power plants with a combined capacity of 540 kW.

Pamir Energy is a private energy company operating in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, established in 2002 under a public-private partnership between the Tajik government, the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The term of the concession agreement is 25 years.
