Tatneft boosts environmental protection expenses 8% to 17.4 bln rubles in 2025

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Tatneft Group directed 17.4 billion rubles to environmental protection in 2025, ensuring environmental safety and rational use of natural resources, according to the company's integrated draft report prepared for the annual general shareholders' meeting.

The majority of this amount (60.6%) went to projects in the oil and gas refining division, while 31.7% went to the exploration and production division.

The previous year, investment related to environmental protection amounted to 16.1 billion rubles.

It is noted that the company is a leader in the Russian oil and gas industry in terms of the level of rational use of associated petroleum gas (APG), which in 2025 was 98.36%. APG flaring decreased over the year from 19 million to 16 million cubic meters.

In 2025, the group's gross pollutant emissions into the atmospheric air amounted to 90,300 tonnes (-0.11% year-on-year), and greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) amounted to 8.48 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent (+3.7% YoY).

It was previously reported that Tatneft had set a goal to reduce CO2 emissions 14% by 2025 and 30% by 2030. The company intends to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions (carbon neutrality) by 2050.
