Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz to purchase up to 6 bcm of gas from Gazprom in 2026

ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan's state-owned company, QazaqGaz, plans to purchase up to 6 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia's Gazprom at a fixed price in 2026, according to QazaqGaz's prospectus for its $700-million Eurobond offering.

"The company and Gazprom Export LLC are parties to a natural gas supply agreement, under which QazaqGaz has agreed to purchase up to 6 billion cubic meters of gas in 2026," according to the prospectus published on QazaqGaz's website.

The gas price is fixed for the entire term of the contract, and payment is rendered monthly in Russian rubles, according to the prospectus.

Gazprom CEO and management board chairman Alexei Miller and Kazakhstan's Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration Roman Sklyar last week signed an agreement on additional supplies of Russian gas to Kazakhstan in 2026.

Kazakhstan imported 3.8 bcm of gas from Russia in 2024, and 4.097 bcm in the first half of 2025. Data on Russian gas imports for the entire year 2025 are unavailable.

QazaqGaz represents the state's interests in Kazakhstan's domestic and foreign gas markets. The company is part of the Samruk-Kazyna National Wealth Fund and manages the infrastructure for transporting marketable gas through main gas pipelines and distribution networks.
