Russia boosts revenue from exports of sunflower to India 1.7-fold in Jan-April - Agroexport center

MOSCOW. June 2 (Interfax) - Russia boosted revenue from exports of sunflower oil to India 1.7-fold year-on-year to $691 million and increased export volumes 43% year-on-year to 532,000 tonnes in January-April, the Agriculture Ministry's Agroexport center said, citing expert estimates.

India was the leading importer of Russian sunflower oil in the reporting period, with Turkey, Iran, Belarus, and China rounding out the top five purchasers.

Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) data indicate that domestic production of sunflower oil decreased 12.4% to 7.2 million tonnes in 2025. Production of sunflower oil rose 9.9% to 2.7 million tonnes in January-April, with output rising 11.5% year-on-year to 700,000 tonnes in April.

As previously reported, according to India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Russia supplied 1,298,000 tonnes of sunflower oil to the Indian market in 2025, down 33% year-on-year from 1,923,000 tonnes in 2024. Export revenue declined to $1.57 billion from $1.89 billion in 2024.

India imported 2.89 million tonnes of sunflower oil totaling $3.46 billion in 2025 versus 3.74 million tonnes totaling $3.7 billion in 2024.
