Kazakh, Russian financial intelligence agencies strengthen cooperation

ALMATY. May 29 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and Russia are strengthening cooperation in combating money laundering and terrorist financing, the press service of Kazakhstan's financial monitoring agency said.

An agreement to that effect was signed between Kazakhstan's Agency for Financial Monitoring and Russia's Federal Financial Monitoring Service during Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Kazakhstan.

"The document provides for the development of cooperation mechanisms between the financial intelligence agencies of the two countries," the agency said.

Implementation of the agreement will improve information exchange and strengthen measures to detect and suppress financial crimes, it said.
