Restrictions on import of range of products from Armenia will not influence prices, inflation in Russia - Reshetnikov

ASTANA. May 29 (Interfax) - Restrictions on importing certain products from Armenia should not affect prices or inflation in Russia, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov told the Izvestia publication.

"There will be no effect on our markets. I was asked yesterday what would happen with inflation and so on. We will not notice any of these figures statistically. These are fairly niche products, and we meet the bulk of these volumes through our own production. We have a fairly diversified supplier structure for our markets in these areas," Reshetnikov said.

As reported, a ban on importing flowers from Armenia has been in effect since May 22. Restrictions on importing fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green vegetables, and strawberries enters into effect on May 30. These decisions were reached owing to the increasing number of violations in the supply of Armenian fruit and vegetable products to Russia and to ensure phytosanitary safety.
