EAEU countries could ensure stable development of their economies amid unprecedented geopolitical turbulence - Tokayev

ASTANA. May 28 (Interfax) - The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were able to ensure stable development of their economies amid unprecedented geopolitical turbulence, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"The EAEU is not just a regional integration association, but an important subject of the global economy. Our states were able to ensure stable development of their economies, to ensure their competitiveness on the global market thanks to coordinated actions amid unprecedented geopolitical turbulence," Tokayev said at the Eurasian economic Forum on Almaty on Thursday.

"We now face a strategically important task of further dynamic development and strengthening the EAEU potential," Tokayev said.

Consolidated and coordinated efforts aimed at countering negative global tendencies are needed in an era of total reformatting and reorientation of global economic relations, he said.

"The situation on the global market looks difficult, even largely unpredictable. Traditional economic challenges have overlapped the massive digital shift, which will soon fully reformat the rules of the game," Tokayev said.
