Russia doubles tariff for rail freight to Latvia, Estonia and Finland on June 1
MOSCOW, May 18 (Interfax) - Russia will hike tariffs on rail freight transport to Latvia, Estonia and Finland on June 1.
A Federal Anti-monopoly Service order, No. 306/26, was posted on the official portal for legal acts.
It states that an additional coefficient of 2x will be applied to tariffs in accordance with Chapters Two and Tree of II and III of Tariff Guidelines No. 1 [the main tariff document of JSC Russian Railways] for freight transport to land border crossings of Russian railways with export codes to Latvia, Estonia and Finland (except for shipments destined for Kaliningrad Railway stations and to Lithuania), as well as to Belarus (for onward shipments to Latvia and Estonia).
The coefficient applies to all freight in that direction. When transporting freight as part of a train not owned by a Russian Railways carrier, this coefficient will be applied to tariffs for each car, as well as to tariffs for the diesel or electric locomotive.
When determining tariffs, this coefficient will also be applied to tariffs for organizing movement by each car through Russian Railways infrastructure, including cars carrying containers and flat car trailers, as well as to tariffs for the use of Russian Railways infrastructure by a freight train and for organizing the movement of a locomotive through Russian Railways infrastructure used to haul freight trains in that direction.
