China's Nuctech to localize production of security screening equipment in Kazakhstan

ASTANA. May 18 (Interfax) - China's Nuctech plans to localize production of security screening equipment in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Industry and Construction Ministry said.

The project was discussed by Kazakh Deputy Minister of Industry and Construction Olzhas Saparbekov and the management of Nuctech Kazakhstan. The meeting was also attended by deputy chief of Kazakhstan's presidential administration Assel Zhanasova.

Production is expected to launch around the end of 2026.

The project is aimed at manufacturing modern security systems, including Kylin Ti and XT2100 innovative screening equipment, as well as CX180180D and CX100100D dual-projection X-ray units for baggage and cargo inspection.

The project will be implemented in the Innovative Technology Park special economic zone in Almaty.

The project also includes plans for a network of service centers and a spare parts warehouse to keep the equipment running without interruption across Kazakhstan.

Nuctech Company Ltd. was founded in Beijing in 1997 and manufactures security screening equipment. It is a subsidiary of Tsinghua Tongfang, which is controlled by China National Nuclear Corporation.
