Inflation in Russia 0.14% in April, below forecast; annual figure slows to 5.58%

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Consumer price inflation in Russia slowed to 0.14% in April from 0.60% in March, 0.73% in February and 1.62% in January 2026, the State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Inflation was 3.11% in January-April. For the first time this year, cumulative inflation was less than for the same period of 2025, when prices rose 3.12%.

Inflation in April 2026 was way below the 0.26% that analysts predicted in a consensus forecast for Interfax. Also, weekly inflation figures pointed to 0.22% price growth for the month.

Annual inflation, according to the Rosstat data, slowed to 5.58% in April - the analysts expected 5.71% - from 5.86% at the end of March, 5.91% at the end of February, 6.00% at the end of January and 5.59% at the end of December.
