Russia in favor of increasing share of operations in BRICS countries' national currencies - Mishustin

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Russia is in favor of forming a fair and sustainable financial system and supports efforts to increase the share of operations in the BRICS countries' national currencies and the association's partners, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

"Russia consistently advocates for the formation of a fair and sustainable financial system in which the countries of the Global South will have more opportunities. And the New Development Bank has a special role in this," Mishustin said in a video address to the participants, organizers and guests of the 11th Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank's Board of Governors.

Moscow supports efforts to further diversify the bank's portfolio and actively create complex cooperation chains, Mishustin said. "As well as to increase the share of operations in the national currencies of BRICS and the association's partners," he said.

Mishustin expressed confidence that joint work and open dialogue will help strengthen cooperation among the countries.
