VSMPO-Avisma to supply titanium pipes for Rosatom's NPP in Egypt - authorities

YEKATERINBURG. May 14 (Interfax) - PJSC VSMPO-AVISMA to supply welded titanium pipes for the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which Rosatom state nuclear energy corporation is building in Egypt, Sverdlovsk Region Governor Denis Pasler said on Makh social media.

Pasler said that the company has launched serial production of pipes for heat-exchange equipment in contact with seawater.

Pasler said that choice of titanium is technologically driven for the coastal NPP, as it is used in the marine, energy, chemical, oil and gas, and aerospace industries, where standard materials quickly deteriorate under aggressive environments, he said.

Rosatom is reportedly constructing the El Dabaa NPP in Egypt. The NPP design calls for four 1200 MW power units each with VVER-1200 reactors. The state corporation plans to begin power supply from the first power unit in 2028 and fully complete the plant in 2030.

VSMPO-AVISMA is a titanium producer with a full production cycle, from raw material processing to the production of highly machined finished products. Mikhail Shelkov is the company's majority shareholder.
