National system for procuring mining equipment to take effect on July 1, share of Russian products must be at least 80% starting from 2027

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The national system for public procurement, which grants preference to Russian products when selecting bids within procurement by state structures and state-owned companies, will be extended to mining equipment from July 1.

The corresponding resolution has been approved by the Russian government and published on the website of official information.

The resolution expands the list of goods subject to the national system to include certain pieces of mining equipment, including specialized conveyors and tunneling combines as well as screening, separation and other sorting equipment used in processing plants, the Industry and Trade Ministry's press service said.

From July 1, a restriction will apply on procuring such equipment from foreign countries under the "second extra" rule (if a bid with a Russian product is submitted, a bid with a foreign product is rejected).

A minimum share of procurement of such equipment from domestic manufacturers has also been established. It will be 80%. This decision will take effect from 2027.

"At present, Russian engineers have extensive competencies in the production of this equipment. And the expansion of the national system will create a guaranteed order for these products and increase sovereignty in the most important industrial sectors," the ministry said.
