Russian Agriculture Ministry, FCS to continue integration of information systems for convenience of exporters of agricultural products
MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - The Agriculture Ministry and the Federal Customs Service (FCS) will continue joint work on supporting foreign trade in agricultural products in order to make the necessary procedures more convenient and predictable for exporters, and above all, this concerns further integration of the two agencies' information systems, the Agriculture Ministry said following a meeting between Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut and the head of the Federal Customs Service, Valery Pikalyov.
"Special attention was paid to the convenience of participants in foreign economic activity. For exporters of agricultural products, it is important that the required procedures are clear and predictable," the ministry said. "In this regard, possibilities for further integrating the information systems of the Agriculture Ministry and the FCS were considered. This will improve the traceability of consignments, reduce the administrative burden on businesses and speed up the passage of necessary approvals."
As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to continue searching for practical solutions that will help make foreign trade procedures more convenient for businesses.
According to the FCS, Russia exported food products and agricultural raw materials (excluding textiles) worth $6.4 billion in January-February 2026, up 5.7% compared to the same period of 2025 ($6 billion). It therefore proved possible to overcome the negative dynamics in agricultural exports that continued throughout last year (with the exception of January).
