Power China proposes building 300 MW solar power plant on credit to Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT. April 30 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan is studying proposals from the Chinese company Power China for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 300 MW, Deputy Turkmen Energy Minister Serdar Saparov said at the Turkmen-Chinese forum in Ashgabat on Wednesday.

"Proposals from the Chinese company Power China for the construction of a solar power plant with a capacity of 300 MW are currently being studied," Saparov was quoted as saying by the online publication Turkmenportal.

At the same time, he noted that under this project the company is offering preferential long-term credit funds.

Turkmenistan has set a course for introducing renewable energy sources and the reduction of harmful emissions in order to comply with the requirements of international conventions, he said. In the Balkan region, a combined solar-wind power plant with a capacity of 10 MW has already been prepared for commissioning.

"The launch of this facility will become a symbol of the beginning of the large-scale introduction of green energy," Saparov said.
