Kazakhstan not considering changing format of OPEC+ participation - Energy Ministry
ASTANA. April 29 (Interfax) - Changing the format of Kazakhstan's participation in OPEC+ is not on the agenda, the press service of the Kazakh Energy Ministry told journalists.
"As of today, the issue of changing the country's participation format in the alliance is not on the agenda," the press service said.
Kazakhstan is not a member of OPEC, but has supported the OPEC+ deal to limit oil production for more than eight years.
In mid-April, the Energy Ministry said that Kazakhstan "continues to follow the OPEC+ agreements and will maintain constructive engagement with its partners in the alliance, guided by both international commitments and national interests."
The ministry previously recalled that the deadline for compensating for oil overproduction under the deal's obligations lasts until the end of June 2026.
The day before, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which produces around 3 million to 3.5 million barrels of oil per day, announced its withdrawal from the OPEC organization and the OPEC+ agreement effective May 1.
