Orban says won't withdraw veto on 90-bln-euro loan for Ukraine until oil supply resumes by Druzhba

BERLIN. April 20 (Interfax) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said he will not withdraw his veto on the EU's 90-billion-euro loan for Ukraine until oil supply resumes by the Druzhba pipeline.

"Hungary's position has not changed: no oil, no money. Once oil deliveries are restored, we will no longer stand in the way of approving the loan," Orban said on X on Sunday.

As agreed with the EU, Hungary will take no financial obligations regarding this loan anyway, he said.

Orban said he had been informed from the EU that Ukraine stood ready to resume oil transit by Druzhba "as early as Monday" on condition that Hungary stops blocking the loan first.

Orban's Fidesz party lost parliamentary elections in April, but Orban remained the prime minister for now. The transfer of power to the new government is due in May.
