FESCO allows for possibility that VMTP's container turnover in 2026 will remain at previous year's level

MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Container transshipment at Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port (VMTP, part of FESCO Group), its subsidiaries, and Port Gaydamak (Vladivostok, a group asset), according to estimates from FESCO's management, will remain at the level of 2025, the transport group said.

"It is assumed that general cargo transshipment rates will increase 5% in 2026. After 2026, the growth rate of general cargo transshipment rates is forecast at 4%-5% annually. VMTP plans to gradually reduce coal transshipment and redirect capacity to container cargo," the company said.

It is noted that rates for loading and unloading operations decreased in 2025 amid a correction in the maritime freight market. "A stabilization of rates with slight growth is forecast in 2026; for the period 2026-2031, market recovery is expected, which will be accompanied by a slight increase in rates for loading and unloading operations," it said.

It was previously reported that VMTP handled over 805,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in 2025, down 8% from a year earlier. At the same time, aluminum transshipment increased 16% to 214,000 tonnes, while transhipment of pig iron rose 3.5-fold to 111,000 tonnes. The stevedore does not disclose data on other types of cargo handled by the port.

Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port is the largest stevedoring company in the port of Vladivostok. Its production facilities are located at 15 berths.

The FESCO Gaydamak terminal is a universal transshipment complex in Zolotoy Rog Bay in Vladivostok.

FESCO Transportation Group, which is under Rosatom state corporation's control, owns assets in the port, railway and integrated logistics business. FESCO owns PJSC Commercial Port of Vladivostok, the FESCO Integrated Transport intermodal operator, the Dalreftrans refrigerated container operator, as well as the Transgarant and FESCO Trans companies.

The group manages terminal complexes in Novosibirsk, Khabarovsk, Tomsk, Vladivostok and Kaliningrad. The company manages a container fleet of over 200,000 TEU and nearly 15,000 flat cars. The group's fleet includes more than 30 vessels, which operate primarily on the company's own shipping lines. In November 2023, a controlling stake in FESCO (92.5%) was transferred to Rosatom by a decree of the Russian president.
