RBI continuing to work on selling Russian business, reports difficulties
MOSCOW. April 9 (Interfax) - Austria's Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) is still working on selling its Russian business, head of the group's supervisory board Erwin Hameseder said.
"RBI continues to work on selling its business in Russia. Bearing in mind the difficulty of the situation, this is a Sisyphean task," Hameseder said at the RBI annual shareholders meeting.
He said again that the restrictions on growing the business in Russia remained in place and lending had practically been terminated.
The main asset of Austria's RBI in Russia is Raiffeisenbank. Hameseder said that the Russian bank's 2025 result had been impacted by funds written off in connection with legal claims from Rasperia Trading Limited.
Raiffeisenbank was 12th in the Interfax-100 ranking of the country's major banks by assets in 2025.
