Twelve mln tourist trips made around Russia in Jan-Feb 2026 - deputy PM

MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - Twelve million tourists traveled around Russia in January-February 2026, up 2.6% year-on-year, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said on Monday.

"The number of tourist trips around the country reached 12 million in January-February of this year, up 2.6% compared with the same period in 2025. The most popular regions traditionally were Moscow, Krasnodar territory, Moscow region, St. Petersburg, and the Republic of Tatarstan. Compared to January, new regions - the Tyumen and Irkutsk regions - entered the top 10 for the two months," the government press service quoted him as saying in a statement.

Two million tourist trips were made to Moscow, 1.1 million to the Krasnodar territory, 967,000 to the Moscow region, 956,000 to St. Petersburg, and 435,000 to Russia's internal republic of Tatarstan in the first two months of this year, Chernyshenko said. The top ten also included the Sverdlovsk region (303,000), the Republic of Crimea (257,000), Tyumen region (250,000), Rostov region (237,000), and the Irkutsk region (214,000).

The particularly impressive tourism growth rates were shown by Sevastopol (up 337%), North Ossetia (up 204%), the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia (up 119%), the Republic of Dagestan (up 106%), the Republic of Tyva (up 103%), and the Amur region (up 74%), the statement said.
