Russia resumes exports of sugar confectionery to India, Libya in 2025 - Agroexport

MOSCOW. March 24 (Interfax) - The main buyers of Russian sugar confectionery in 2025 were neighboring countries, while the export geography was expanded through new, distant markets, in particular India and Libya, the Agroexport federal center said.

Supplies of these sweets to India and Libya resumed in 2025 after a hiatus beginning in 2023, Agroexport said. For the first time following a pause starting in 2023, sugar confectionery was exported to Bahrain (for around $40,000) and Albania (more than $60,000).

Overall last year, according to expert estimates, Russia supplied 84,000 tonnes of sugar confectionery to foreign markets. Export revenue increased 13% to almost $258 million. "In this way, the historical maximum revenue for sugar confectionery exports was updated, with the previous record set in 2022 at $243.5 million," Agroexport said.

The top five importing countries in 2025 included Belarus (more than $77 million), Kazakhstan (around $71 million), Azerbaijan (more than $17 million), Kyrgyzstan (around $14 million) and Uzbekistan (around $14 million).
