Nornickel becomes industrial partner of Angara-Yenisei cluster project for deep processing of critical metals
MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - The Development Fund of the Mendeleyev Valley Innovative Scientific and Technological Center and Nornickel have signed a cooperation agreement as part of the project to create a cluster for deep processing of non-ferrous, rare and rare earth metals in the Angara-Yenisei macroregion.
The signed agreement between the Mendeleyev Valley Fund and Nornickel provides for the company's participation in industrial cooperation around the cluster, including developing and implementing technological solutions for deep metal processing, from raw material extraction to the production of materials and components for technology sectors of the economy.
The project involves forming a scientific, technological and industrial ecosystem, attracting investments of approximately 700 billion rubles and creating more than 11,000 jobs. As part of the cluster, research centers, engineering teams and industrial enterprises working on developing and producing materials and components for modern industry will be unified.
The cluster is considered an integration platform focused on developing high-value-added processing, creating added value within the country, increasing the efficiency of interaction between science and industry, realizing unique industrial competencies and the widespread introduction of artificial intelligence into production processes.
This project is one of the main ones for the formation of the critical metals industry in Russia and the development of sixth technological paradigm production chains. The key objective of the project is to develop industries that meet the needs of 21st century economic sectors, including microelectronics, robotics, power engineering and the production of new materials. The creation of the cluster in the Angara-Yenisei macroregion will allow Russia to strengthen its position in the global market of strategic materials, ensure the country's technological independence and accelerate the development of new industries.
At the same time, the project is focused not only on the development of research, but also on its rapid industrial transfer, from scientific developments and pilot industrial solutions to the launch of new production facilities and technological lines.
