Belozerov reappointed head of Russian Railways for another 5 years

MOSCOW. March 23 (Interfax) - Oleg Belozerov, the chief executive officer and chairman of the management board of Russian Railways (RZD), has been reappointed as head of the company for another five years, the Russian government's press service said.

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed the corresponding directive.

Belozerov took the helm at RZD in 2015, replacing Vladimir Yakunin. His previous reappointment to this position took place five years ago, in March 2021.

Initially, Belozerov led Russian Railways with the title of company president; in 2017, this position was renamed, and the head of RZD became the chief executive officer and chairman of the company's management board.

Belozerov is a graduate of St. Petersburg University of Economics and Finance with a degree in economics industrial planning. From 2000 to 2001, he worked as head of the financial and economic department in the office of the Presidential Envoy to the Northwestern Federal District. From 2001 to 2002, he was deputy head of corporate property management at OJSC LOMO; from 2002 to 2004, he headed OJSC Russian Fuel Company.

In the summer of 2004, he moved to the Federal Road Agency as deputy head, and in the autumn, he became head of the agency. From 2009 until his appointment to RZD, he served as deputy transport minister, and in May 2015, he became first deputy transport minister.
