EU to give Armenia 140 mln euro for visa liberalization reforms - Kos
YEREVAN. March 19 (Interfax) - Armenian and the EU signed a financial agreement under the Stability and Growth Pact, Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan said.
"Today we signed a funding agreement for 2025-2027 under the EU's Stability and Growth Pact, approving measures such as export diversification, visa liberalization and management of public finance, among others," Grigoryan said at a joint briefing with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos in Yerevan on Thursday.
The two sides discussed regional connectivity and agreed to continue working to implement the Armenian government's Crossroads of Peace initiative, the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity project and the EU's Global Gateway strategy, Grigoryan said.
Kos pledged EU assistance in Armenia's integration in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, he said.
Armenia will receive 140 million euro under the signed agreement, Kos said.
The money will facilitate the implementation of reforms needed for visa liberalization, she said.
This year is important for Armenian democracy because the country will be holding a parliamentary election in June, Kos said.
The EU will help Armenia counter hybrid threats and fight disinformation so its citizens can decide their country's future themselves, she said.
