Italy, Greece, Bulgaria reduce gas imports from Azerbaijan 3% in 2025 - Eurostat
BAKU. March 18 (Interfax) - EU states Italy, Greece and Bulgaria reduced gas imports from Azerbaijan 2.6% in 2025 compared to the previous year's figure, to 454,978 terajoules (TJ).
According to data from the European Union's statistical office (Eurostat), the value of gas supplied from Azerbaijan to the EU countries during the reporting period amounted to 4.572 billion euros (+5.2%).
Over the year, Italy purchased 377,907 TJ of natural gas from Azerbaijan (-2.8%) for 3.929 billion euros (+6.1%) and Greece and Bulgaria together purchased 77,071 TJ (-1.4%) for 643.217 million euros (-0.4%).
Azerbaijan has gas supply agreements with 13 countries in Europe - Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Germany, Ukraine and Austria.
Among them, long-term contracts with fixed supply amounts have been signed with three countries (Italy, Greece and Bulgaria), and with the German company SEFE (Securing Energy for Europe) for a period of ten years, with the annual amount gradually increasing to 15 TWh, which is around 1.5 billion cubic meters. Contracts without precise purchase amounts have been concluded with the other countries.
