Moldova reopens its market for 1 Ukrainian poultry meat producer - service

MOSCOW. March 17 (Interfax) - Moldova has authorized the resumption of imports of frozen and chilled poultry meat from a Ukrainian poultry farm, which also has a license to export its products to the European Union, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement from the State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection following a meeting with Moldova's National Food Safety Agency (ANSA).

The decision was made after the results of tests conducted in EU laboratories confirmed that the Ukrainian producer is fully complaint with safety requirements.

"The next step is to reopen the Moldovan market for exports from other Ukrainian producers, something the State Food Safety Service is now working on with ANSA," the statement said.

The sides also reaffirmed their readiness to continue their dialogue on expanding the range of categories of meat products that can be exported to Moldova.

As reported, Ukraine and Moldova agreed on an action plan on March 5 for the prompt resumption of Ukrainian poultry exports. This requires mandatory laboratory testing of samples in certified EU laboratories. Only enterprises authorized to export to EU member states and operating a closed production cycle can submit their products for testing.

Moldova suspended imports of Ukrainian chicken meat in January 2026, citing complaints about the quality of poultry feeds. Ukraine described these restrictions as discriminatory. In response, the Ukrainian government drew up a draft resolution introducing licensing requirements for the imports of grapes, wine, and spirits from Moldova as an instrument of protecting Ukraine's economic interests until the restrictions on the Ukrainian agricultural sector are fully lifted.
