Russian gas supplies to Armenia decrease 2.6% in 2025
YEREVAN. March 11 (Interfax) - Gas supplies to Armenia amounted to 2.705 billion cubic meters in 2025 compared to 2.734 bcm in 2024, according to materials from the country's Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC).
Supplies therefore decreased 1.1% last year.
Russia supplied 2.229 bcm of gas to Armenia in 2025 compared to 2.288 bcm in 2024 (-2.6%).
As part of the program of exchanging gas for electricity, 475.8 million cubic meters of gas were provided by Iran, compared to 446.3 mcm in 2024 (+6.6%).
Gazprom is the sole supplier of natural gas to Armenia. The operator of the gas transmission network is CJSC Gazprom Armenia, a 100% subsidiary of the Russian concern.
Armenia has been receiving natural gas from Iran since 2009, which is used exclusively as part of the program for exchanging gas for electricity under an agreement valid until 2030. Armenia processes it into electricity and exports it to Iran at the rate of 3 kWh per 1 cubic meter of natural gas. Power plants participating in the program generate 4-4.5 kWh of electricity based on 1 cubic meter of natural gas from Iran, with the surplus remaining in Armenia.
