Hungary receives guarantees from Russia oil, gas deliveries to continue at unchanged prices - Szijjarto

BERLIN. March 5 (Interfax) - Hungary has received guarantees from Russia that deliveries of oil and natural gas will continue at "unchanged prices", Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday.

"Szijjarto announced in Moscow that Hungary has received a guarantee from Russia that it will continue delivering the necessary quantities of natural gas and crude oil at unchanged prices, despite the global energy crisis," Hungarian government spokesperson Zoltan Kovacs wrote on X.

Kovacs quoted Szijjarto as saying that the operation of the Druzhba and TurkStream pipelines "is critically important for Hungary's energy security." Szijjarto also said that Budapest "has strengthened the protection of these pipelines."

Hungary and Russia also "agreed to seek alternative transport solutions [for energy deliveries] if delivery routes face disruptions," Kovacs said.

As reported earlier, Putin said at the meeting with Szijjarto that Russia has always been a reliable supplier of energy resources.

"We have always fulfilled our obligations, as long as it depends on us, and we intend to and are willing to do so. Not everything depends on us, but we have always been reliable suppliers," Putin said.
