Service cabin restored at Baikonur site 31 - Roscosmos

MOSCOW. March 3 (Interfax) - A service cabin damaged during the launch of a Soyuz rocket in November 2025 has been installed at site 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Roscosmos said on Tuesday.

"The installation of new service cabin equipment has been completed at the launch site. More than 150 employees of [Roscosmos'] TsENKI and representatives from four contractors completed the scheduled installation operations within a very short time, less than two months," it said.

The site is used for Russia's manned space program, Roscosmos said.

A special assembly method was developed to install longitudinal and transverse trusses through the firing opening, it said.

The most challenging task was installing the longitudinal and transverse trusses, which are 19 meters long and weigh about 17 tonnes, through the firing opening. In order to do that, a special assembly method was developed, using slings of different lengths and trusses lowered into the flue and lifted into the niche of the launch site," it said.

"Slightly over two months have passed since the cabin equipment's delivery to Baikonur. Over that period, 2,350 square meters of structures were prepared and painted, all fastening units were replaced with new ones, electrical equipment was completely replaced and adjusted, inspection and maintenance of service cabin components and mechanisms were carried out, and more than 250 linear meters of welds were completed,' it said.
