Kyrgyz GDP almost triples since 2020 - Japarov
BISHKEK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Kyrgyzstan's GDP has grown from $8.3 billion to $22.6 billion since 2020, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said at a national meeting on last year's results of socioeconomic development.
"The country's gross domestic product stood at $8.3 billion in 2020, it topped $22.6 billion at the end of 2025. The economy practically tripled," Japarov said.
Over five years, tax revenues have increased approximately fourfold, customs duties have grown sixfold, and non-tax revenues almost ninefold, he said.
"Such rapid growth is extremely rare in global practice. Such dynamics are mostly seen only amid a steep increase in raw material prices or the discovery of unique fields. In our case, the results derive from systemic reforms: fiscal tax procedures, the shadow economy brought into the legal realm, strengthening financial discipline, modernized customs and tax services, and the introduction of transparent and understandable rules. Financial stability of Kyrgyzstan has reached a brand-new level in recent years. Forex reserves exceeded $10 billion for the first time in national history," Japarov said.
In 2021-2025, the Kyrgyz economy shifted from a state of crisis to sustainable and diversified growth attractive to investors, Japarov said.
