Myanmar delegation invited to Space Week celebrations in Russia - Roscosmos CEO

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - A delegation from Myanmar's Space Agency has been invited to the Space Week, which will be hosted by Russia for the first time from April 6 to 12, Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Bakanov said.

"We took this opportunity to invite the Myanmar delegation to the Space Week, led by the head of their Space Agency [...]. They will actively participate in this celebratory event," Bakanov said in a video released by the state corporation's press service.

Earlier on Thursday, Roscosmos said that Bakanov met with Myanmar's leader Min Aung Hlaing during his working visit to Myanmar. The parties reached an agreement in principle to deploy a data collection station for the Glonass system in Myanmar.

The state corporation also said a Russian-Myanmar Memorandum of Cooperation in Manned Cosmonautics was signed following talks with Myanmar Space Agency Director General Soe Myint Maung on February 25. Roscosmos said it is willing to help select and train Myanmar's first cosmonaut.

On December 29, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree establishing the annual Space Week in Russia from April 6 to 12. The events will be held "to promote the achievements of the national space sector and boost the prestige of space-related professions," the document said.
