Ukraine needs 1,800 MW of extra power capacity - govt minister
MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax) - Ukraine urgently needs more than 1,800 MW of additional electric and thermal capacity, Ukrainian media quoted Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Alexei Kuleba as saying during a joint visit with members of the European Parliament and national parliaments of 14 European countries to a thermal power plant in Kiev on Wednesday.
"We asked our partners to continue supporting our power sector. We presented a plan for preparing for the next heating season and outlined Ukraine's needs for developing distributed generation, modular capacity, and backup power supply. The country's total emergency need for additional electricity and heat capacity exceeds 1,800 MW," Ukrainian media quoted Kuleba as saying.
