Cargo transportation through Azerbaijan via international transport corridors declines 2.2% in 2025
BAKU. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The volume of cargo traffic through Azerbaijan via international transport corridors (ITC) declined 2.2% year-on-year to 32.537 million tonnes in 2025, the country's State Statistics Committee told Interfax.
The East-West ITC carried 16.91 million tonnes of cargo, down 0.4%; the North-South ITC carried 9.289 million tonnes, down 6.2%; the North-West ITC carried 5.805 million tonnes, down 3%; and the South-West ITC carried 533,600 tonnes, up 35.4%.
Railway transport accounted for 14.261 million tonnes, down 6.7%, or 43.9% of the total cargo volume; roadway transport accounted for 11.046 million tonnes, up 9.5%, or 33.9% of the total cargo volume; and seaborne transport accounted for 7.23 million tonnes, down 22.2%, or 8.4% of the total cargo volume.
Cargo traffic through Azerbaijan via ITC increased 1.4% year-on-year to 33.2 million tonnes in 2024.
