Russia mulls localizing production of Iranian turbines
TEHRAN. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russia is interested in localizing production of Iranian turbines on its territory, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said on the sidelines of a meeting of the two countries' intergovernmental commission, which he co-chairs.
"There is a company here that produces turbines. We're considering the issue of localizing their production in the Russian Federation," Tsivilev said.
Iran's largest turbine maker is MAPNA Group, which was founded in 1993 to design and build turn-key power plants, and electrify industrial and public facilities in Iran, the oil and gas production and refining industries, and railway transport. The company secured a license from Germany's Siemens in 2016 to manufacture F-class gas turbines.
