Turkmenistan's GDP grows 6.3% in 2025 - president

ASHGABAT. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Turkmenistan's GDP grew 6.3% in 2025, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at an expanded government meeting last Friday.

"The high pace of economic development has been maintained. GDP growth [in 2025] amounted to 6.3%, including 1.8% in the industrial sector, 9.6% in the trade sector and 7% in agriculture," the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan quoted Berdimuhamedov as saying.

Investment increased 6%, Berdimuhamedov said. A total of 116 industrial and socio-cultural facilities were put into operation using all sources of financing last year, and around 7,000 new jobs were created at large and medium-sized enterprises, he said.

Deputy Prime Minister Hojamyrat Geldimyradov, who oversees the financial sector, said that growth in construction amounted to 7.9%, in the transport and communications sector it stood at 9.8% and in the services sector it was 7.5%.

Overall, output increased 10.2% year-on-year in 2025 and retail trade grew 13.2%, Geldimyradov said.

Finance and Economy Minister Mammetguly Astanagulov said Turkmenistan's state budget revenue was 1.5% above target and expenditures were 0.3% below in 2025.

He said capital investments grew 6% and accounted for 16.6% of GDP and that 49.1% was invested in industry and 50.9% to social and cultural facilities.

Turkmenistan's adopted a balanced 2025 state budget with revenues and expenditures each totaling 123.8 billion manat.

Turkmenistan's GDP increased 6.3% in 2024.

According to the presidential program for 2022-2028, Turkmenistan's GDP growth rates should be at least 6.7% per year.
