Chinese citizens account for over 50% visitors to Russia in 2025
MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - The number of trips made by foreign tourists to Russia in 2025 rose by 4.5% to 1.64 million, most arrivals (834,000) were from China, according to data from the Border Service of Russia's Federal Security Service.
In all, there were almost 15.6 million such trips last year, down 6.9% on the previous year.
The countries from which trips were made most frequently (for all purposes) were from Kazakhstan (3.19 million, -6.2%), followed by Uzbekistan (3.12 million, -7%), China (1.76 million, +4.2%), Tajikistan (1.44 million, -15.1%), Kyrgyzstan (983,630, -17.7%). Also in the top ten were Abkhazia (624,160, -13.1%), Belarus (562,540, +8.3%), Armenia (544,640, -12.3%), Azerbaijan (430,710, -19.2%) and Mongolia (326,130, -11.2%).
More than 1.64 million trips to Russia in 2025 were for tourism purposes. The largest share of such trips was from China (834,460), down 1.6% compared to 2024. The flow of Chinese tourists was more than eleven times that from Saudi Arabia (74,900, +35.8%); China also accounted for over a half of all tourist trips to Russia over the year.
Third place is held by Turkmenistan (73,990 tourists, +29%), followed by Turkey (68,720), Germany (66,000, +0.4%), United Arab Emirates (59,000, -9.5%), India (38,480, +66%), Iran (31,810, -35.9%), Kazakhstan (23,120, -3.9%), and Belarus (19,100, +80.9%).
