Transneft Oil Pumps plans to supply 4 pumping units for CPC in 2026

CHELYABINSK. Feb 5 (Interfax) - Transneft Oil Pumps plans to supply 4 ANM 4500-650 pumping units for oil pumping stations to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) in 2026, the general director of Ural Dynamic Machines, Dmitry Tumanov, told journalists.

"The total contract is for 12 units. The first of them has already been manufactured and is undergoing pilot industrial operation. The remaining 11 will be launched into production in 2026-2027," he said.

"In addition, we [Russian Electric Motors, REM] provide engine repair services to the CPC. Last year, similar work was done for Lukoil, and now also for Sakhalin Energy," Tumanov said. The plant receives two to three orders per month regarding engine repairs on average, he said.

The management of Russian Railways (RZD) is also studying the possibility of placing an order with REM for repairing engines for Lastochka and Sapsan trains, Tumanov said.

As reported, in March 2025, acceptance tests of a prototype electric pumping unit for JSC CPC-R were conducted. A contract for the manufacture, supply, installation supervision and commissioning of 11 mainline pumping units with common oil systems was concluded for 2.5 billion rubles.

The CPC connects oil fields in western Kazakhstan and Russian ones on the Caspian Sea shelf with the marine terminal in Novorossiysk. The route's length is 1,500 km. The system is the main export route for Kazakh oil, accounting for more than 80% of the volumes pumped via the pipeline from Kazakhstan. The CPC is capable of transporting approximately 72.5 million tonnes of oil per year from Kazakh territory and up to 83 million tonnes of oil per year through Russia.

The shareholders of the CPC are the Russian Federation (31%, comprised of 24% managed by Transneft and 7% on its balance sheet); Kazakhstan (20.75%, represented by KazMunayGas at 19% and Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC at 1.75%); Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company (15%); Lukoil International GmbH (12.5%); Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company (7.5%); Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited (7.5%); BG Overseas Holding Limited (2%); Eni International N.A. N.V. (2%); and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC (1.75%).

Ural Dynamic Machines LLC (Chelyabinsk) is the managing company for the structures Transneft Oil Pumps and REM.

JSC Transneft Oil Pumps (TOP) is a joint venture of Transneft and the Chelyabinsk-based group Konar. TPP was created in December 2014 with Italy's TM.P. S.p.A. - Termomeccanica Pompe. The plant built as part of this joint venture was launched for full-cycle operation in 2016. Its production capacity is 160 horizontal pumps and 20 vertical pumps per year. Investment in the project amounted to 4.15 billion rubles. The joint venture also manufactures spare parts and components for pumps and pumping units, including replacement rotors and replacement flow parts.

Russian Electric Motors was created to produce high-voltage electric motors. The company was established by Transneft jointly with JSC Konar in 2015 with the participation of a technological partner, Italy's Nidec ASI. The enterprise was opened in 2018 and is designed to produce up to 300 electric motors per year with a capacity of up to 14 MW for mainline and booster pumping units (with the possibility of expanding the product range to a capacity of 45 MW).
