Russia, China agree on joint projects in pedigree poultry farming

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Scientific organizations and business representatives from Russia and China have agreed to implement joint projects in scientific and technological support for the agricultural sector, in particular in pedigree poultry farming, the Russian Agriculture Ministry said.

Corresponding agreements were signed during a visit by a Russian delegation led by the Agriculture Ministry's advisor, Olga Abramova, to China, the ministry said.

In particular, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the GenBioTech autonomous non-commercial organization and Beijing Glbizzia Biotechnology Co. The companies will work on a broiler chicken crossbreeding program, covering process optimization and disease prevention and increasing the animals' productive lifespan.

In addition, the Timiryazev Academy, the National Poultry Farmers Union, the Harbin Leshi Agricultural Science and Technology Company, and the Beijing Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences signed an agreement to create a scientific communication platform in the field of genetics and breeding in pedigree poultry farming. It will facilitate the development of cooperation in education and research activities.

"Joint initiatives and projects in these areas will make Russian-Chinese cooperation even more effective, opening new opportunities for strengthening the two countries' scientific and technological potential," the ministry said.
