Brazil preparing to supply fish products to Russia
MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Fish processing enterprises in Brazil are preparing to export their products to Russia.
In February, specialists from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) plan to inspect five Brazilian fish processing enterprises for compliance with Russian requirements, Rosselkhoznadzor said. The inspections will take place in the format of a video visit.
There are currently no Brazilian enterprises in the register of suppliers of fish products to Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor's press service told Interfax. "These five enterprises could become the first certified for export to Russia, but only if they successfully pass the inspection," the press service said.
In addition, a number of companies interested in supplying fish products to the Russian market will be inspected in person in Q3 2026.
Brazilian fish product manufacturers are showing growing interest in obtaining such access, Rosselkhoznadzor said.
Currently, Brazil supplies mainly meat products, cheese, feed and feed additives for animals to Russia.
One of the major suppliers of fish products to Russia from the Latin American continent is Chile (fourth place). According to the Fish Union, 64,000 tonnes (+28%) of fish products worth $350 million (+35%) were exported to the Russian market in 2025.
