Final growth in Russia's liquid hydrocarbon reserves for 2025 at 640 mln tonnes, gas reserves 670 bcm - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Updated data show Russia's recoverable liquid hydrocarbon reserves, made up of oil and condensate, grew 640 million tonnes across all categories and gas reserves by 670 billion cubic meters (bcm) thanks to geological exploration work in 2025, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said on its website, citing Natural Resources and Environment Minister Alexander Kozlov.

At the end of last year, Kozlov told Interfax in an interview that the growth in reserves stood at 666 million tonnes of oil and 686 bcm of gas according to preliminary data in 2025. The ministry usually publishes finalized annual data on growth in reserves in January of the following year.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported that Russia had 41 new hydrocarbon deposits last year, of which 31 were oil fields. The biggest were the Tolaveiskoye gas condensate field in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District, containing 54.4 bcm of gas and 20.4 million tonnes of condensate, the Mezeninskoye field in the Krasnodar territory with 49.7 bcm of gas and the Alexei Kontorovich field in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District with 30.3 bcm of gas, 7 million tonnes of oil and 0.4 million tonnes of condensate.

As reported, the growth in recoverable reserves of the AB1C1 industrial category as a result of geological exploration work in Russia amounted to 592 million tonnes of liquid hydrocarbons and 708 bcm of gas in 2024.
