Lukoil agrees to sell international assets to Carlyle, except Kazakh assets

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Lukoil has announced that it has signed an agreement with U.S. investment company Carlyle to sell Lukoil International GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Russian oil company that owns the Lukoil Group's international assets.

"The transaction does not include the assets in Kazakhstan which will remain to be owned by Lukoil Group and continue their operations under respective license," the company said in a press release.

The signed agreement "is not exclusive for the Company and is subject to some conditions precedent such as procurement of necessary regulatory approvals including permission of the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for the transaction with Carlyle," Lukoil said.

"The Company also continues negotiations with other potential purchasers," Lukoil added.

Lukoil International GmbH is being sold due to restrictive measures imposed by some countries against Lukoil and its subsidiaries, the company recalled.
