Ukraine extends restriction of steel rod imports from Belarus, Moldova, starts inquiry into steel pipes from Turkey
MOSCOW. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Ukraine has extended anti-dumping measures applied to imports of steel rods from Belarus and Moldova for another five years; also, in response to complaints from major Ukrainian steel producers, it has started an anti-dumping investigation with regard to imports of steel pipes from Turkey and irrigation systems from a number of countries.
Ukrainian media reported citing Economy, Environment and Agriculture Minister Andrei Sobolev that the renewed interagency commission for international trade led by him made this decision at a meeting on Monday.
Media cited a post on Sobolev's social account saying that an investigation uncovered and blocked a channel through which Chinese metal products entered Ukraine under the guise of Malaysian ones, thus evading duties.
"The investigation has proven facts of forgery of certificates of origin. Therefore, the anti-dumping duties that were applied to China will now be applied to imports from Malaysia, as well," he said.
