Krasnodar Territory increases sunflower oil exports to Iran almost eightfold in 2025

KRASNODAR. Jan 27 (Interfax) - Krasnodar Territory, one of the largest agricultural regions in Russia, exported 252,000 tonnes of sunflower oil to Iran last year, the Novorossiysk branch of the Federal Center for Assessing the Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products (TsOK APK) told Interfax.

Exports of this product through the region's ports stood at 33,000 tonnes in 2024, it said. Exports therefore grew 7.6-fold.

"Significant growth was also noted with regard to Syria. Shipments to this country reached 12,970 tonnes, which is three times higher than the previous year's figure," TsOK APK said.

The branch's specialists provided laboratory support for the exports. The sunflower oil is tested in accordance with the technical regulations of the Customs Union, as well as taking into account the requirements of importing countries.

"In laboratories, the product is checked for the presence of residual pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins and radionuclides. A detailed analysis of physico-chemical indicators and testing for the presence of genetically modified organisms is also carried out," the head of the testing laboratory of TsOK APK's Novorossiysk branch, Svetlana Zinchenko, said regarding the agency's work.

Overall, 1.3 million tonnes of sunflower oil were exported from the seaports of Krasnodar Territory in 2025. Comparative dynamics relative to the 2024 level were not specified by the branch. The largest buyers of this product are Turkey, India and Iran.
