Growth in Belarus' GDP slows to 1.3% in 2025, underperforms forecasts of int'l financial institutions
MINSK. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Belarus' GDP grew 1.3% year-on-year to 286.7 billion Belarusian rubles in 2025, the National Statistical Committee, Belstat, said.
The country's GDP growth rate consistently decelerated last year to 3.1% in the first quarter, 2.1% in the first half of the year, and 1.6% in January-September.
The GDP deflator was 111% for 2025.
The Belarusian authorities had projected GDP to rise at least 4.1% in 2025.
The International Monetary Fund had expected growth of 2.1%, the World Bank 1.9%, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 1.7%, and the Eurasian Development Bank 1.8%.
Belarus' GDP grew 4% in 2024 after 3.9% in 2023, and declined 4.7% in 2022.
The Belarusian government forecasts GDP to rise at least 2.8% in 2026.
