Zaporozhye NPP's power supply via Ferrosplavnaya-1 line resumes - Rosatom CEO
MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Power supply has resumed to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) via the Ferrosplavnaya-1 high-voltage power transmission line after repairs, Rosatom Russian State Nuclear Energy Corporation CEO Alexei Likhachev said on Monday.
"Power supply to the Zaporozhye NPP via the Ferrosplavnaya-1 high-voltage line has been restored. Now, the NPP is again receiving electricity simultaneously via two lines, Ferrosplavnaya-1 and Dneprovskaya, which substantially increases the reliability of the plant's power supply," the Rosatom press service quoted Likhachev as saying.
The Zaporozhye NPP received electricity for its own needs from the right bank of the Dnieper River controlled by Ukraine through the main 750 kV Dneprovskaya power transmission line and the backup 330 kV Ferrosplavnaya-1 line.
Repairs on the Ferrosplavnaya-1 line began on January 18.
The Zaporozhye NPP with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown.
All plant facilities are incorporated into the Zaporozhye NPP federal state unitary enterprise and owned by Russia. The Zaporozhye NPP Operator, founded by Rosatom's Rosenergoatom, runs the plant.
