Russia ramps up pork exports to China by 60% in 2025, becomes one of top ten suppliers
MOSCOW. Jan 20 (Interfax) - Russia increased pork product exports to China by 60% to $86.5 million in 2025 from $53.3 million in 2024, China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) reported.
As a result, Russia became one of the top ten suppliers of pork products to China by export revenue.
China imported pork products from 17 countries last year, led by Spain with $596.5 million, followed by Brazil with $369.7 million, the Netherlands with $138.7 million and Denmark with $135.7 million.
Russian pork exports to China slumped to $4.8 million in December from $5.1 million a year earlier. They peaked in July at $12.4 million.
Russian pork first entered the Chinese market in April 2024. The National Union of Pig Breeders reported that Russia exported 40,000 tonnes of pork products to China last year. Exports in the first half of 2025 totaled 43,000 tonnes.
Three Russian companies currently have the right to export pork to China, including Miratorg, Rusagro Group's Tambov Bacon and the Velikoluksky Meat Processing Plant. Miratorg was the first exporter. Applications for clearance to export pork products to China from another seven companies are now under review, Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said.
