South Korea cuts fish imports from Russia 3.6% to 270,700 tonnes in 2025

MOSCOW. Jan 15 (Interfax) - South Korea reduced imports of fish and seafood from Russia 3.6% to 270,700 tonnes in 2025, compared with 280,100 tonnes in 2024, it follows from data published by the Korea Customs Service.

Export revenue increased to $943.2 million from $897.5 million in 2024.

Despite the lower export volumes, Russia remained in second place among the main suppliers of fish and seafood to the Korean market, behind China. In 2025, China exported 330,100 tonnes of fish and seafood to South Korea for $1.14 billion, versus 326,900 tonnes for $1.1 billion the previous year.

Other major suppliers of fish to South Korea include Vietnam, which exported 134,600 tonnes there in 2025 and 131,700 tonnes in 2024, Norway, which exported 83,980 tonnes and 71,500 tonnes respectively, and Japan, with 55,000 tonnes and 31,700 tonnes respectively.

Russian agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor said that Russia had exported over 1.5 million tonnes of fish and seafood in 2025.
