Armenia interested in EU involvement in Trump Route project - Pashinyan

YEREVAN. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Armenia is interested in the EU's involvement in the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said.

"Yet another step towards institutionalizing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the practical implementation of the TRIPP project was made in Washington yesterday, for which I congratulate us all. Obviously, large investments and big money will be directed to our region now. This is good news," Pashinyan said at the Armenia and the World at the Crossroads of Risks and Opportunities debates attended by U.S. and EU ambassadors.

U.S. participation in the project has already been determined, "so we need to discuss in detail with our EU partners the format of the EU's involvement in specific projects," Pashinyan said, adding, "We are interested in that."

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said earlier on Wednesday that Russia would have an opportunity to cooperate with the TRIPP project but its direct involvement was not on the table.

As reported, Armenia and the U.S. have agreed to set up a joint venture to develop transport routes in Armenia as part of the TRIPP project.
