Russian Railways' freight loading on Moscow Railway network down 15% in 2025
VORONEZH. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The Moscow Railway, a branch of OJSC Russian Railways (RZD), saw freight loading fall 15.3% year-on-year in 2025 to 55.5 million tonnes, the branch's press service said.
Last year, loading of iron and manganese ore fell 8.8%, oil and petroleum products loading fell 21.8%, ferrous scrap loading was down 28.1%, grain loading declined 53.7%, construction materials loading fell 13.2%, chemicals and soda loading fell 0.6%, cement loading fell 17.3% and ferrous metals loading was down 52.8%.
At the same time, the Moscow Railway boosted loading of chemical and mineral fertilizers 11.4% as well as industrial raw materials and molding materials 6.9%.
Freight turnover for 2025 amounted to 87.8 billion tariff tonne-kilometers (a decrease of 12.7%).
The Moscow Railway serves ten Russian regions - Moscow, the Moscow region, and the Kaluga, Tula, Oryol, Kursk, Ryazan, Smolensk, Bryansk, and partially Vladimir regions.
