Inflation in Kazakhstan accelerates to 0.9% in Dec, 12.3% in 2025
ASTANA. Jan 12 (Interfax) - Inflation in Kazakhstan accelerated to 0.9% in December from 0.8% in November, and to 12.3% in 2025 as a whole, from 8.6% a year earlier, the National Statistics Bureau said.
The largest contributions to the annual inflation rate came from food and non-alcoholic beverages (5.2%), healthcare (1.5%) and housing services (1.2%).
In December, food prices increased 1.2%, non-food goods by 0.7% and services by 0.6%.
Over the year, food prices rose 13.5% (5.5% in 2024), non-food goods by 11.1% (8.3%) and services by 12% (13.3%).
Compared to the previous year, beef prices increased by 32.1%, lamb by 28.8%, sausages by 19.3%, apples by 18.4%, sunflower oil by 17.5%, fish and seafood by 16.5%, non-alcoholic beverages by 16.3%, butter by 13.9%, dairy and fermented milk products by 11.2% and poultry by 10.7%.
Price increases were also noted for jewelry (38.2%), vacuum cleaners (33.2%), laptops (27.6%), washing machines (17.7%), clothing and footwear (10.8%) and personal care items (9.4%).
The price of liquefied gas in cylinders rose by 23.2%, gasoline grade AI-92 by 16.0%, and gasoline grade AI-95/96 by 14.1%. Housing rent went up 14.8%, healthcare services 14.5%, catering services 14.0%, public transport fares 10.9% and education 8.6%.
Utility services rose in price by 6.4% over the year.
The highest annual inflation was recorded in the North Kazakhstan region at 14.2%, while the lowest was in Almaty and Kostanay region at 11.7% each.
